Woman Walking Dog In Northeast DC Assaulted At Gunpoint; Pet Taken, Police Say

Dognappers are at large in DC after an armed carjacker made off with a woman's beloved 14-year-old West Highland Terrier.

Shortly after 10:15 p.m. on Saturday night, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department says that a woman was walking her dog when she was approached from behind in the 300 block of Galloway Street NE.

Police say that the wanted suspect pointed a gun at the woman and demanded her dog, "Max," before taking off in a vehicle that was waiting in the area.

During the altercation, the woman attempted to recover her dog, but was assaulted by the man for her troubles.

The West Highland Terrier was described as being all white with a distinctive scar under his right eye (which can be viewed above." 

No information about the assault suspect or getaway driver has been released by the department.
